Cara Johnson

Hi! My Name Is...

Cara Johnson

I am the Viking Success Program (VSP) Instructor for Parsons Middle School.

About Me:
I graduated from Oswego High School in 2003 where I then pursued a teaching degree from Pittsburg State University. Once I graduated, I moved to Kansas City where I taught girls Physical Education and Health as well as coached middle school volleyball and track at Turner Middle School for several years. Now, I currently reside in Oswego with my wonderful husband, Zack. We have three beautiful children, Brody, Kynley, and Oaklyn. In my free time, I like to read, play with my children outside, and watch or participate in various sports.

VSP Goals and Objectives

The main goal of this program is to provide the students at Parsons Middle School, who are in need of a Tier Three Intervention, the opportunity to attend the program to keep up on their academic studies while learning to cope and handle their disruptive behaviors that hindered their/other's learning experiences.

- To provide new ways of thinking about yourself to increase your self-confidence and self-esteem. - Discuss some choices available to you and how you can use them to your benefit. - Help to identify your interests and aptitude skills. - Assist you in establishing set goals, make plans for the future, and make a decision about your life. - Teach you the skills to be successful in today's society. - To provide an alternate setting for students who have exhibited frequent disruptive behaviors in the regular educational environment.

"It is not what is poured into a student that counts but what is planted." -Linda Conway
